The Downeast Region of Maine
Weatherby's is tucked away, deep in the St. Croix
Valley of Downeast Maine, surrounded by lakes with names
like Wabassus, Pocumcus and Sysladobsis. Our Main Lodge
overlooks Grand Lake Stream, arguably one of the best
salmon rivers in the country.
In addition to our traditional recreation, the region
surrounding Weatherby's also provides for numerous other
opportunities as we sit just a short distance from some
of the most magnificent coastline and fishing
communities Maine and the Province of New Brunswick have
to offer. You can spend a day exploring Eastport,
historic Machias, St. Andrews by the Bay or St. Stephen,
Canada's Chocolate Town.
Other attractions include ferry rides to Deer Isle and
Campobello Island to visit Roosevelt's summer cottage; a
picnic at Quoddy Head — the easternmost point in the US;
biking and hiking in Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge;
or whale watching and sailing in the Bay of Fundy, which
boasts the highest tides in the world and massive
whirlpools.
For golf enthusiasts, the region is home to two
beautiful coastal courses: the St. Croix Country Club in
Calais, Maine and the Algonquin in St. Andrews, New
Brunswick.
