Ice-Out Trolling
West Grand Lake is home to
the original Grand Lake Canoes -
20 foot feet long with a square
stern to accommodate a small
outboard - built by hand from
local cedar trees and designed
to handle our unpredictable
weather on our large lakes.
When the ice melts on West
Grand in late April, the salmon
and lake trout rise to the
surface and feed aggressively
for several weeks on smelt.
Trolling flies and spoons from a
Grand Laker can provide non-stop
action for these highly sought
after game fish.
