Dear Friends and Colleagues,

When you are on the water or in the woods with Weatherby’s, your health and safety are our first priority. Please know the same holds true as we navigate this ever changing COVID-19 situation.  The latest staged reopening of Maine’s economy allows for the following:

May – Guided fishing for Maine residents.  No lodging, no dining.  WE CAN TAKE YOU FISHING!

May 18 – Open for business for Maine residents or non-residents that have self quarantined for 14 days.  Lodging, dining and guided fishing.

July/August/September – it is unclear to us what the scheduled reopening will be for non-residents coming to the state for the purpose of fishing and lodging at this time.  The language on the state web site is unclear.  We have requested clarification from the Governors Office on when non-resident clients will be allowed to visit us.

At this point I wanted to reach out and assure you we are carefully and thoughtfully monitoring the situation and its impact on travel. We are getting our information from and trusting the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), the WHO (World Health Organization) and the Maine Governor’s office and will continue to educate ourselves as new information becomes available.

Sadly, we have had to cancel ALL of our May and June reservations, trying to reschedule this season where possible.  Unfortunately that is not always possible.  As we seek clarification on when we can resume business as usual, feel free to call and discuss options.  Generally, the concerns are attributed to potential airline travel changes in the coming weeks.  We can only control what we control, so in order to mollify some of this uncertainty we are extending our deposit policy out to two full years from original trip date.  What’s more, we’ll lock in your trip rate.

For the last 18 seasons, Weatherby’s has been working with guests to provide all the information needed before you make a decision on whether to come vacation with us. Our long history in the fly fishing and hunting business tells us that during moments like these, you—our guests—will be in different places in your decision-making processes.

We continue to strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance and have partnered with Global Rescue to offer this. Global Rescue’s Signature Travel and Signature Plus (Cancel for any Reason) Insurance allows you to insure all of your expenses and covers all activities. While a Signature Travel Insurance policy can be purchased at any time, purchasing a policy within 20 days of making your initial trip deposit gives you the widest range of policy options specifically cancel for any reason. Purchase a policy online or call +1-617-459-4200. Someone from Global Rescue will contact you via email in the next 72 hours, please keep an eye out for their email.

If you have any questions or concerns, particularly those of you who are planning a trip with us beginning in May, do not hesitate to reach out.

In the meantime, practice your casting, shoot some skeet or head for the range, play some wiffle ball, eat a pizza and watch a movie with your family, keep in mind life goes on and know we look forward to seeing you all here in Maine at Weatherby’s this season.
